Masterclass with Prof. Eckard Runge

Bambarone String Quartet Masterclass
Oct 25th - 29th, 2023

In October 2023, Bambarone La Masseria had the honour of hosting a String Quartet Masterclass with Prof. Eckard Runge, founding member of the Artemis Quartet. The musicians of the internationally renowned Kleio Quartet were able to benefit from the expertise of one of the most experienced and renowned chamber musicians.

At the end of the course, they presented a fascinating concert togheter with works by Joseph Haydn, Antonio Vivaldi and Franz Schubert in the Church of Sant’Angelo in Monopoli – made possible by the Bambarone Art Foundation and the City of Monopoli.

Kleio Quartet

First Prize and Commission Prize winners at the Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition 2023, the Kleio Quartet are quickly establishing themselves as an internationally-recognised quartet.

Described by Alina Ibragimova as “a wonderfully dedicated group of musicians who bring assuredness and freshness to everything they play”, they formed at the Seiji Ozawa International Chamber Academy in 2019 and consist of individually acclaimed musicians Yume Fujise, Katherine Yoon, Jenny Lewisohn and Eliza Millett.

The Kleio Quartet have performed in major international venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Victoria Hall, Cadogan Hall, Royal Festival Hall, the DR Koncerthuset, the Black Diamond in Copenhagen and many others.

Prof. Eckart Runge

Three decades Eckart Runge marked the characteristic profile of the Artemis Quartet, with which he performed in major concert series and festivals worldwide. Albums, since 2005 exclusively for Warner/Erato have been granted numerous awards such as the Grammophone Award, the ECHO-Klassik and the Diapason d’Or.

As of 2019 Eckart Runge decided to leave the quartet and endeavour for new artistic challenges, persuing his solo-projects and above all, his passion of presenting programs that converge varied musical genres and art forms, such as classical, jazz, rock-pop and film music, also to reach out to younger and wider audiences, for chamber music presented in a new contemporary way.

As a professor at the University of Fine Arts Berlin (UdK), the Chapelle de la Reine Elisabeth in Brussels as well as on international master classes, he passes on his experience to students from across the world.
